Eyeball Wreath

What is it about an eye that’s so scary, creepy or eerie? Last week I did the Eerie Eyes post and this week we are starting off with an Eyeball Wreath or Frame. So I couldn’t find the frame that I wanted at the Dollar Store to make this project so I decided to make my own version. As I’m writing this post I’m wondering why I didn’t check Michaels to see if they had the frame it would have saved me a few steps but at the same time might have cost me a little more. Oh well I did what I’m getting rather good at doing I improvised! I decided that poster board and foam board would be easy to make into a frame! Now you can put ribbon or cord (it’s what I had) around the frame and make it a wreath or you could put a cute picture of your Trick or Treaters behind the frame and have a cute picture to pull out year after year!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Foam Board

Poster Board

Googly Eyes (3pkgs)

Rubber Cement

Glue

Scissors/ Exacto knife

Here’s how you make it:

Measure and cut both the Poster and Foam Boards into a 12in x12in square. Next cut out a 4 in square from the center of the boards.  Then glue the Poster Board to the Foam board with the Rubber Cement. Next thinly coat one side of the poster board with glue and add the googly eyes. Continue to the other sides adding more glue and eyes as you go. Let dry and then loop a ribbon around the top of the wreath and hang on your door or in the house for a fun decoration.

ENJOY!

Trashy Spider Webs

Once again I found a great Thrifty craft on Pinterest! You can see the original inspiration at howaboutorange. I love that the last 2 crafts have been so cheap! I bought the Trash bags for this project at the Dollar Store! Would have been even cheaper if I’d had some black bags on hand! I forgot to have the Hubster get the Halloween decorations down from the attic and I’m really ready to start decorating! I mean it’s the 3 of October and I don’t have anything up yet! I usually try to get everything up by the 1st of October but this year I am behind! I guess I’m going to have to crawl up in the attic myself ugh not looking forward to that one! Would it be wrong to ask my darling pre teen son to do it for me? Hmm have to ponder that one… Ok ok let’s get to the craft…

Here’s what you’ll need:

Black Trash bags (mine were 30gal size)

Scissors

Sharpie

                                                  Lay out your trashbag
Cut off all the sides, on the bottom I just slid my scissor through
                                                          Fold in half
                                                        Fold in half again
                                                         Make a triangle
                                                        Make another triangle
                                                         And another
                                                 Draw out your web design
                                                   Cut one side
                                                  And then the other
Unfold and you are done!
Here’s how you make it:

Lay out your trash bag, cut off the top, bottom, and both sides. Separate the two pieces of the plastic. Fold the plastic in half, you will have a rectangle, then fold it into a square. From there you will fold it into a triangle, do that 2 more times. With your Sharpie draw a line about half an inch wide from the tip of the triangle to the top. Then on each side draw matching scallops, leave gaps between each scallop I didn’t measure this I just eyeballed it on this. Then cut out the area between the scallops. Unfold and Voila you have 4 spider webs! You can leave them all together or you could cut them and place them in different places! So 1 bag will give you a total of 8 webs!

Enjoy!

Eerie Eyes

Can you believe that October is already here?! This year is going by so quickly! You know this means that there are only 83 days until Christmas! YIKES! I know I know this is the month of Halloween! Just thought I would give y’all a heads up though! So for the month of October I am going to focus totally on Halloween! I’m going to do things a little differently this month; it’s going to be A LOT of Crafts! Then the week before Halloween I’m going to do crazy, scary and maybe some cute foods!

Today’s first craft is so great and easy and well let’s be honest here it’s cheap! EERIE EYES is the perfect decoration for the Halloween season.

Here’s what you’ll need:
Egg Carton/Toilet Paper Rolls/ Paper Towel Rolls

Glow Sticks
Scissors

Here’s how you make it:

Ok so I didn't have any Paper Towel Rolls laying around but I DO have tons of old Egg Cartons laying around so I improvised! So for the Paper Towel/Toilet Paper Rolls you cut the Paper Towel rolls in half, you could use toilet paper rolls but for some reason I just can’t do crafts with them it gives me the heeby jeebies. After you cut them in half you cut “eyes” out of them. For the Egg Carton you cut the carton into 6 sections. Then you cut out the eye shapes. You can cut different sizes and shapes and don’t worry about making it perfect because they are supposed to be crazy eyes anyway! Then stick a glow stick inside them and place them into your bushes. I know I’m posting this on the 2nd of October but you probably want to wait until Halloween to put them out neither glow sticks nor cardboard last too long outside!
*if I was going to make them again I would use the shorter thicker glow sticks!

ENJOY!
